The Green Witch's Garden thrives along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay estuary. I garden the way nature intended—without synthetic pesticides or chemicals—because I believe the healthiest gardens are living ecosystems.
I rarely choose the plants in my garden. Somehow, they choose me first.
I'll find myself captivated by a flower or herb, and only later discover the stories it has carried for centuries—the pollinators it nourishes, the meals it flavor or the remedies it inspires. It's as if every plant has its own quiet magic, waiting for someone curious enough to listen.
My garden is filled with old-world roses whose petals become syrups, sugars, and teas. Calendula that transforms into golden salves. Cheerful nasturtiums with peppery blossoms that brighten summer salads. Borage for the curious cucumber flavor. Dandelions that remind us that what many call weeds are often extraordinary gifts. Pansies and violets that become edible works of art. Yarrow, lemon balm, cornflower, oregano, rosemary, thyme, lavender, elderflowers, and countless other herbs and blossoms, each with their own history, purpose, and wisdom.
